Have you fled from Ukraine? Are you pregnant or have you come to Germany with your baby or toddler? Do you have questions and concerns about your child? Then Frühe Hilfen (early childhood intervention) is there to help.

What is Frühe Hilfen?

Frühe Hilfen means “early childhood intervention”. The early childhood intervention services are there for all expectant parents and families with children up to the age of three. The services are optional, free and easy to access. There are early childhood intervention advice points in all cities and rural districts. The staff at the advice points are professionals who advise you or find a suitable service for you. Interpreters are available.

The early childhood intervention services include:

  • Family mentors who provide help in everyday life
  • Parent-child groups in family centres
  • Advice on problems with crying, sleeping and feeding
  • Family midwives or family paediatric nurses
  • Advice during pregnancy and after birth
  • Early support for disability issues

Helpline Ukraine advises parents fleeing Ukraine. You can call them on 0800 500 225 0, and they speak Ukrainian and Russian. The service is confidential and free. Helpline Ukraine is a joint project of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and the ‘Nummer gegen Kummer’ association with the assistance of Deutsche Telekom.
